Our Portable Density Moisture Gauges Course is designed for professionals responsible for supervising the use of portable density and moisture gauges within their organisation. This specialised radiation safety training course equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to ensure safe, compliant, and effective operation.
Participants will learn key aspects of radiation management for portable density/moisture gauges, including safe operation, compliance auditing, radiation monitoring, contamination (wipe) testing, transport and storage, emergency response procedures, and disposal of radioactive sources.
About this Course
Under the Radiation Safety Act 1975, portable density and moisture gauges must only be used by licensed and competent personnel. This course is fully aligned with the ARPANSA Code of Practice for Portable Density/Moisture Gauges Containing Radioactive Sources (2004), ensuring nationally recognised compliance.
A moderate level of mathematical understanding is recommended for successful completion of this training.

Assessment
Participants will complete a combination of practical exercises and theoretical assessments, aligned with Radiological Council requirements, to demonstrate competency in radiation safety and gauge operation.

This course is a prerequisite for licensing to operate portable density/moisture gauges across all Australian States and Territories.
