This course is aimed at personnel preparing to sit the Industrial Radiography Assistant’s exam. This exam is a pre-requisite for personnel to begin practical training under a licensed Industrial Radiographer.
Participants will gain an appropriate level of understanding of radiation and its effects, including the ALARA principle and the legal and practical considerations required of Industrial Radiography Assistants, allowing them to work under a licensed Industrial Radiographer.
About this Course
It is a requirement under the Radiation Safety Act 1975 that the use of Industrial Radiography is performed only by a licensee assisted by an approved Industrial Radiography Assistant, or a second licensed person. This course is aligned with the ARPANSA Code of Practice for the Safe Use of Industrial Radiography Equipment.
A foundation level of mathematical understanding is required to complete this course.
Assessment
There are multiple practical exercises and activities throughout the course and theoretical understanding is assessed against Radiological Council requirements.
Certification
A certificate of completion is issued upon successful completion of this course.
This course is recognised as a pre-requisite for licensing in all Australian States & Territories.
